Here is a warning to all wannabe golfer’s, if you start in this sad way, and do nothing to stop, then a life of pain and anguish awaits you.

All my life as a golfer I was a hooker.

How it happened i do not know.

I never wanted to be one it just happened.

Hooking when It started, was not every shot. It’s just sort of creeps up on you, gradually over days, weeks or even months and progressively worsens, until almost every shot is calling a TAXI left. And I do not mean just a little to the left i mean boomerang benders.

It got so bad I spent more time in the trees, searching for lost balls that my friends thought I was gardening.

Then came the dreaded day. I remember it so clearly that it was almost as if it happened yesterday. I ran out of golf balls during a round. Was soooo embarrassing.

I needed professional help.

After walking off in the afternoon, I went straight to the clubhouse and talked about the pros. When talking to the Pros, they admitted that they had heard of my problem. It seems that some of my so-called friends had talked to them, to find out if it is contagious.

The problem:

The first thing you should do is check your grip.

If the grip is good, and still Hooking, try to weaken the grip gradually moving both hands to the left.

Check your alignment to make sure that the feet, knees, hips and shoulders are all parallel to the target.

Another reason may be the position of the ball. If it is too far back, it may produce an excessive in to out swing path.

Try grabbing the club more in the palm of your hand, not fingers, to reduce wrist action and the premature closing of the clubface.

Make sure that the left wrist is not too loose. If so, the right wrist will control the clubface close it too early.

Make sure that the action begins in the legs and body. This will stop the wrists unhinging and closing the clubface too soon.

There, you see. I said that it can be cured. Although perhaps not completely cured. Even now many years later, sometimes it happens.

But the main difference is that now, as I’m walking toward the woods to search for that wayward shot, I’M SMILING - because I know it is not my ball im looking for.

The Tiger Woods golf swing technique sees Wood’s flexibility reach far back quite comfortably.

As he starts the swing, his level of fitness and muscle strength enables him to build up club head speed by turning his trunk and rotating quickly pushing the right leg forward. There is a minimum of energy waste as he maintains his posture over the golf ball.

Driving through, Woods uses the hips, shoulders and wrists to create a high initial ball speed. Research has shown that a couple of feet off the tee, the ball is usually traveling about 180 miles per hour. The average tour pro usually only manage 160 miles per hour.

Tiger’s golf swing technique can not be achieved on the basis of someone who is not physically fit or somebody who does not work out regularly. In fact, the achievement of an effective golf swing technique these days it is necessary to condition the muscles,

Gone are the days when golf was viewed as a leisure sport where players would move around in an electric golf cart to avoid breaking sweat.

This does not mean that a good golf swing technique calls for rigorous exercise of power training, and stretching. In fact, the most critical golf-specific exercises involve stretches and core strength training combined. There is also light weight lifting to build strength not the muscle.

Obviously golf-specific exercises are the only way to develop a good golf swing technique.

This is a good idea, hire a professional and make sure that he is a great player and teacher as well. If they just stand there and watch you without actually showing you the swing that can get you out of the sand trap, or hit the Fade or the proper way to putt then what are you paying for. The best teachers will try to understand what you can do first, and then adjust the advice to suit your needs.

If you’re ready to play, it’s important not to think too much before taking your shot. I have played with people who have taken so long over the ball trying to remember everything the pro taught them, you wonder how you ever got through 18 holes. It is impossible to think of a dozen things while thinking about the grip, where your feet are, where the ball is, keep an eye on the ball, keep your head straight, and so on.

My advice is see the shot first feel the shot and then do it. (pull the trigger)

As you’re learning the game there are certain principles which must be respected.

Here are two basic tips to help you improve your personal game.

An important foundation you need, no matter what shot you make, no matter what club you’re using is balance. You must be balanced when you swing the club..

And do not forget, of course; always keep an eye on the ball. Make sure that the stance allows you to see the ball at every point of the stroke.

Take your time and develop methods that work best for you. Unless you’re playing golf for a living, you have all the time in the world to get it right.

Like everything else in life, golf, takes time and practice and, if you take your time, and try to do everything as natural as possible, you will quickly get the first birdie and before you know it you will break 80 regularly.

When it comes to warming up for a golf game, many golfers think that hitting the driving range is enough. In fact, working with different swings and getting familiar with the weather conditions will help to make your game of golf the best it can be.

Golfing on a windy day is much different than when the air is calm. The golf game is also affected on days when the temperature is warm,. Here are a few warm-up tips from those who regularly hit the golf courses.

Getting yourself in the right mood is a gretal warm-up tip for golf. The goal is not to take your frustrations out on a golf ball, it does not help your game at all. It takes time to focus on the game, feel free to come and forget your troubles. The bad mood can strongly influence your golf game.

The warm-up session is not the place to try out the new club, swing, or try new techniques l. Do not get carried away on the practice range.

The important thing in the warm-up session is to loosen the muscles and build your confidence. You can not do that if you try something completely new, and keep making mistakes. Stick to what you are accustomed too using, then be ready to congratulate yourself on the triumph of the warm-up and the game.

Picture the rubber band for a moment. Keep stretching it and stretching it.

What’s happening?

It breaks down and eventually snaps in two.

Your muscles are the same. You can keep stretching your muscles, but it does not improve the strength in these newly developed ranges of motion, you will not see long-term results. In fact, just this golf stretching dvd could be detrimental to your performance by exposing the muscle to injury, it is essential that the Senior Golfer build core strength.

The wisest purchase would be the golf exercise DVD, which includes both stretching and strengthening exercises. Now you will see lasting results! You won’t be wasting your time in the hope of a better golf swing.

You’ll see a much higher level of performance, accuracy and overall consistency. I am always surprised when a senior golfer says he needs to improve HIS flexibility and no mention of building strength.

We know that the human body loses range of motion and strength every year, and we dont maintain it. The ‘use it or lose it’ phrase comes to mind, and it is very true. The muscles were designed to be used, not just lay dormant and inactive throughout the subsequent years.

When you start to really understand how the human body works, You will have a different outlook on a golf performance program. I do not think that the answer is a golf stretching DVD.

My advice to Senior Golfers is to work out and stay safe.

As we age, golf’s challenges change. Fortunately, with an open mind, and some attention to detail, golfers of any age can play better than ever. The biggest challenge for most senior golfers is a lack of overall power.

As golf courses get longer and the game transforms from a game of precision to a game of power, senior golfers have a unique set of challenges to confront.

The key to maintaining power – Flexibility

Flexibility for golf is a term that has been bandied about the golf instruction industry for decades. But what does flexibility for golf really mean? Flexibility can be defined as a joint’s ability to move through a complete range of motion. As related to golf, flexibility allows the golfer to achieve the correct address position, and allows them to move EASILY through the entire swing without any feelings of tension or strain.

Studies have shown that flexibility naturally starts to decline after age 25.

A great tip I got from Gary Player was take a good 30 minute HOT Bath before going out to play Golf.

This will warm up your muscles before you stretch and then play.

Another flexibility hint – always warm up before you play. Your muscles will be looser, and you’ll reduce the risk of hurting yourself. Baseball players warm up by swinging a weighted bat. Golfers can warm up by using a weighted club.

While it may seem impossible to increase club head speed without swinging harder, the search for effortless power is something that is within the reach of every golfer.

The key to generating this feeling of effortless power is to learn to harness the power of centrifugal force while you swing the golf club.

Centrifugal force is a force that tends to move objects away from the center in a system undergoing circular motion. Centrifugal force is what keeps the water in a whirling bucket from spilling.

In the golf swing, centrifugal force is the reason that golfers like Ernie Els and Fred Couples look like they are hardly even swinging the club, but they are able to launch the ball in excess of 350 yards. It is often described as “letting the club do the work”.

How to buy the right equipment

Thinking of buying a new driver?

In the past 5 years the golf equipment industry has made gigantic strides in helping the world’s best golfers increase their driving distance. But what have they done for the average golfer?

How can the senior golfer put technology on his side, and squeeze a few more yards out of his swing?

The most important factor that determines driving distance is NOT club head speed.

The most important factor is making solid contact.

For every half inch that your strike is off center you will lose 10 yards in distance.

In my experience most golfers make the best contact with a driver that is 43.5 inches long depending on their physical size.

Consider getting a driver that is 43.5 inches long or shorter.

So what can you do about it?

My recommendation is to look up a PGA professional in your neighborhood that has a launch monitor and a large selection of drivers with different lofts and lengths for you to experiment with and go for a proper driver fitting. (By the way, almost every major company fitting cart that I have ever seen only has one length of driver (45 inches) which is the most critical component of club fitting.)

If you cannot find a launch monitor in your area, try a driver with 12 degrees of loft and a 43.5 inch shaft and I am sure that the results will have you ten yards further down the fairway.

The aging process causes significant changes in your connective tissue (ligaments and tendons) and eventually decreases your ability to maintain optimal flexibility. To play your best golf later in life, it takes a concerted effort to maintain your flexibility.
