Most of the senior golfers today complain that they are simply not able to hit the ball as far as they used to do earlier. This may develop a lot of frustration among those players who are fighting with most of the young players in walking the Hall of Fame. This certainly does help them quit golf most often and so they are left with less time in the green or even give up the game entirely.
You played golf earlier. You love the game so why should you ever think of quitting. Golf is the only sport that has no age limit. It can be played by people of all age groups but the difference is in the approach. If you simply find that senior tees are not the right options then try evaluating your game. Study your degree of movement. Degree of movement has involved one body part that can play a very important role in your life. It can help in attaining distance. It also has the ability to get all you clubs back so that you can produce a sufficient clubhead at the time of back swing as you need to produce speed at the time of impact.
Loss of flexibility is one of the major after effects of aging. We lose flexibility we lose our range of motion. This certainly does result in more sedentary style of life as we give up in most of the cases. The prime reason is not ageing but absence in stretching exercises. Stretching routine in fact helps you to be in motion. The principle implies to all. If you keep on studying throughout the year you will score good in your exams. But if you study for a day or two before exams you may not score. The same principle applies here. Always practice stretch routine daily so that your body does not lose its flexibility. And if you have flexibility you can get range of motion.
Stretching routines strengthen your muscles and gives them mobility. Your strong muscles simply tend to become more tight. A consistent stretch program will help relax those muscles and make them more active. They would be more use to movements. In fact an unstretched muscles would certainly loose its flexibility and strength. As far as back swings are concerned, losing the tuning of upper and lower part of the body is natural with age. This is the X factor in playing golf. Most of the young golfers sure do take advantage of this. Lack of distance reduces your chance of winning. Being a senior your external rotation of the joints is also reduced.
You are simply unable to rotate your back arm so you don't get mobility. This also does reduce your back swing. A number of other plays an important role like tightness in chest muscles. Limited flexibility in thoracic muscles and mid back area. But all of these factors are natural and any one with an age will face these factors. The important thing is that how you overcome these factors. Try to improve you swing performance and your strength will certainly be regained. Most of the ageing golfers never do much when it comes to stretching. They never try and improve their stretching and limits. Just try and see the difference.
There is an old saying that our life consists of two parts. The first half part of the life usually consists of all the capacity that we need to enjoy it without any chances. The second half part of our life consists of the chances that are simply left without much capacity to enjoy it. This saying must surely have been said by one of the golf lovers. Most of the golfers in the first half of their life used to have the capacity to simply thwack the ball around 250 yards off the tee easily with one swing. But the works simply kept most of the golfers away from practice grounds so they never got enough chance to play the game.
But after retirement most of them simply tend to come back to the golf course as they only have chance to play but they simply seem to lack all the capacity as it certainly has its limits with the growing age. So how can most of the senior golfers try to increase their capacity as they are left with more time to enjoy the play? One of the senior golfer who is also an avid golfer wrote to me after reading one of my column on the senior golfers. He certainly had included a very good advice for most of the average retiree golfers most of whom are simply not able to break 100 yards.
He wrote that playing at an old age certainly is a different game but tat certainly does not mean that the game cannot be improved. Try to follow certain tips and take up a few lessons from the professional player. It certainly will help you to improve your game. Golf can be perfected by practice, so the more you practice the better you get in this game. I personally think that most of the senior golfers should in fact take a lesson or two from this pro. You should avoid letting your club rest in your bag in the middle of the game. If you need to grove all of your swing then you have to try to swing a club around five to six times a week in your garage, on the lawn, in the living room, but try to be more careful or else you may tend to smash your wife's face.
The more you practice swinging the better hold you get in your game. So if you have not yet practiced harder then its time you get on with your practice. Practice certainly does not mean you need to go to the golf course daily. Observation is a good way of learning. Try to observe the game others play. Try to observe the move they make. You may get a lot of help by observing other peoples moves. Watch the game that women play as they tend to swing their body more slowly as compared to man. You can observe their swinging form much better. Notice their arms and hands. They hang their arms straight down and their hands as very much close to their bodies. Most of them may even choke up on the club to get better control.
In the game of golf control is everything. It makes no difference if you drive 235 or 200 the main objective is that you drive it straight. Try practice putting green other than a fade. You need to have a more flexible body. So try drinking more water as it not only cuts down heat but also adds flexibility by lubricating the joints. Finally you need to try to hit the balls with much longer irons. Try implementing a few things and your game will certainly improve.
Some of the golf flexibility, stretching and training programs are perfectly designed to prevent the risk of injury while you are busy improving your golfing skills. And the last Have you had pains? The point is these are the general pattern of questions that most of the senior golfers may be facing when they approach any of the professional trainers. Most of the seniors have pain in their back, hips, shoulder, arms and wrist. It has nothing to do with the game but a lot more to do with the age.
So, it certainly does not mean quitting. You still have one choice! You need to improve your physical fitness and you have to be very sure that it is specific to the golf game. All of this may sound very much confusing but the first thing that you have to do is consider the credibility of any professional. There certainly is a lot of hope with most of the senior golfers.
The basic thing that you need to keep in your mind is that you need to find out about all of your limitations and strength. You can take the help of a professional trainer. Most of these exercises need no equipments. So what are you waiting for? Go and enjoy your golfing.
I have been indulged in teaching senior's golf for around 15 years and one of the most common things that most of the older people seem to want is to be able to shoot longer distances. We all know that the most inevitable part of ageing is loss of our strength, speed, and flexibility and so distance is usually lost. That may be true to certain points especially if you have had any injuries in the past of even if you may be living a sedentary lifestyle. But by simply staying active these effects of ageing can be minimized and so a number of things can be done to increase your distance shooting even if you are getting older.
You can certainly increase the level of your fitness including your strength, endurance and flexibility. Gym may certainly be the best option. Try getting started with a weight program at gym as it is certainly recommended. You simply don't have to start with lifting weights just like weightlifters to increase your distance. A moderate program would in fact work its wonder. You can contact a number of good fitness trainers to instruct you and coach you on how to get started. For improving your flexibility yoga would certainly be the best. Attending yoga classes will actually help you to learn the proper method of breathing and make you feel great. For improving your endurance try walking long distances. You need to take care if you start with any new health care programs your medical professional is always aware of it. It has to be certified by him.
In addition to all of your physical programs a little bit of golf lessons are also compulsory. These lessons will simply help you make your swing much more simpler. With age you need to change the style of your swing. You may need some of the better lessons in a repeated period of times. So always try choosing one of the best professional who can give you your golf lessons. These lessons will actually help you develop correct form of swing along with a good mental picture of the swing and feeling. Good and perfect mechanics and right swing concept is what will help you go a long way when speaking of increasing your distance.
It is also very much important that you have the perfect equipments that fit you personally so that you can concentrate on maximizing your potential. Some of the most crucial ingredients in these custom fit equipments are lie angle, shaft flex, overall weight, swing weight, grip size and club length. A number of other variables are also present that certainly does have impact. If you are taking lessons from a professional he can certainly help fit a set for you in few minutes.
So the fact is that just because you are getting aged it does not mean that you are going to hit the ball in the nearby hole. You simply need to decide to get started with the things that we have just discussed. All of these things are very much important if you want to increase your distance so you have to be sure all of this works just fine when combined together. And if you combine everything perfectly and work it out then before you may know you will be hitting more distances and farther away. You just need to keep up with your practice.
As most of the baby boomers are simply getting aged they are turning towards golf so that they can maintain their physical fitness. Most of the seniors can in fact use a number of simply equipments that can help them improve their golf fitness and also their overall fitness. As we age we lose out strength level and flexibility. So with our age we all try to maintain our strength and flexibility levels. It all starts creeping on us and then one day most of the seniors may notice that they are not hitting their drives perfectly as they used to a few years back. Most of the seniors can not afford to turn and swing on their back much far so the result is that they are simply not able to generate more power to get distance.
Most of the simple and inexpensive equipments are available for the seniors which most of the seniors can use to build their strength and flexibility. But the fact is that before starting you will certainly have to consult your doctor of the new program.
You can try using the Swiss ball or the core balance ball or an exercise ball as it is also known. It make no difference what ever you name it you have to understand that it certainly is a great piece that you can add to your home gym as the equipment is great when speaking of its flexibility. You can try performing a number of stretching exercise on it. You can also do a number of strength building exercises on it. Doing strength building exercises on the Swiss ball will certainly help you to build your strength from the core muscles. These muscles simply help you maintain your stability when you play the game of golf. You can also get a number of other benefits from each of these exercises that you perform.
You can try out the weight golf clubs which are certainly available in many different weights in the market, but it all depends on your present health. It certainly does not sound much like weight but when you think of swinging a club of 1.75 pounds weight you may certainly agree to change your mind. If you try to swing it slowly you can help yourself in improving the internal strength that is required to maintain your swing. You can certainly increase the length of your motion so that you can actually give an extra swing to the club when playing golf and it will also help you to be more flexible.
Resistance cords are a good equipments and not very much expensive. You can use it to work out basic muscles. The equipment is also very much handy and does not require too much of space. A number of exercises can be performed on these resistance cords.

We all know that warm up exercises are in fact there to help prevent injuries and keep you physically fit. Warm up exercises before getting into your round of golf can tremendously reduce your chances of getting injuries. They can help prevent your hips and your elbows as well as any other injuries that most of the golfers may get. Doing warm up exercises ensures the golfer that the pressure that may be involved in playing the game is in fact reduced. Playing golf with some of your cold muscles is the main reason for aches and pains in your muscles especially at an old age. This can dramatically increase any chances of further injuries in your muscles and joints.
Senior golfers should not exert themselves when exercising as their age would certainly not permit them to. You can not be among those golfers who come to play a round and pull a BIG DOG and take a few hacks and then try to start your rounds. You need to be honest with you. Are you one among those? Certainly not, because if you had been one of those then you sure can bet that you may never get the results that you want. Instead you should try to perform simple golf warm up exercises so that your muscles may be tuned for all the twist and turns.
Just remember you are playing the game of golf and not football. There is a lot of difference between the two. You need little warm up so that you don’t feel the pressure in the muscles while playing the game. Some of the most flexible golf exercises are certainly not the ones you may find in the fitness golf books. These books certainly are for young golfers. I made this statement because I have been through most of them and I could never find anything that is related to senior golfers. Just remember that whatever exercise you do your age is the prime consideration. You can try going through some of the books that are printed for senior golfers or the best option would be to get the help of some professional trainer.
Flexibility is what you have to develop. This is the prime reasons why most of the pro golfers don’t join fitness programs as they are very much flexible. Just remember that if your core is inflexible then you can not swing back fully and you may never get a distance shot.
Golf stretching exercises are certainly designed for golfers of all age especially senior golfers. You are strengthening the bone of your body around the elbow area.
You can perform these exercises anywhere at home or your office. You can even get warm up done before going for your round. This is the best option for playing the best game of golf.
When the days of halcyon has simply left us and flexibility is still not the same as it used to be on olden days, playing the game of golf as a senior golfer is a real challenging task for most of us. Most of us simply try to maintain the level with which we used to play. Trying to score becomes more difficult with age as we certainly do lose our distance from our tee as well as irons. So, as we simply get older there is a need for us to review most of the golf clubs that we use and make adjustments with that can in fact help us retain some of that lost distance in our game.
Club manufacturers simply tend to cater all types of golfers including seniors and young and women. So if we are not young enough to make a win then choosing the correct club would in fact be the best option as it can certainly make a lot of difference. It can improve our game and help us being more competitive as we play along with most of the young golfers who simply has the power that once we had.
We have to make a good start by choosing one of the best drivers for ourselves. It is indeed time to think about some of the more flexible shaft that would help us with our swing. If we are no more flexible then we need a more flexible shaft. This may diminish your clubhead speed to certain extent so you in fact need a shaft with senior head. It would in fact help compensate for most of the slow swings as have already lost our flexibility and strength. It would also help in making some of the big turns as it did in past.
So the best advantage to this is that we may be more accurate so even if we have lost our distance we may not lose our accuracy. Try choosing a driver and three wood that has the perfect flex. This will certainly give you more distance and accuracy as compared to most of the stiffer shaft. You need to keep in mind that stiffer shaft are simply useless for you.
Try ditching in longer irons. Most of the hybrids are simply designed to replace long irons but that may certainly not help you. Hybrids can help you to get the ball airborne when providing more distance. The only problem is that distance with long irons is only three or four irons. Hybrids may be available in wide variety but shaft flexibility is certainly an important point to be kept in mind. These may certainly be useful in reaching par fours or par threes. They can certainly be used for accuracy from tee to holes.
Final consideration is simply to look at the shaft and ensure that they are certainly not too stiff. You have lost your flexibility so you don’t need a stiff shaft. Correct flex will certainly help you enjoy the game better. So, before going to your round just make sure you are armed with some of the best equipment of clubs as you are there to make a win. Play the kind of game you played earlier and try to make a score.
Golf certainly is one of the sport where any one can make adjustments as far as age is concerned. When you play the game of tennis a good player in his 20s may certainly succeed in beating a very good player in his 50s. In tracks and race 20s will probably beat a runner in 40s easily. We all know that age certainly has a great impact on all of us. Especially when speaking of sports age makes a lot of difference. But golf is the only game where you can in fact make certain adjustments when age becomes a factor.
Off the “tee” is certainly where making a few adjustments can really pay off when considering old players. Players who are older enough certainly can not give up much yardage to most of the younger players with equally low golf handicaps, and so they are expected to win of course, simply hitting longer drives that is usually off the tee can not simply guarantee with your win in the match, it you may not feel hurt and especially in the case when your shot is straight down the fairway.
So at the time when you start getting older you need to make certain changes in order to keep up with most of the younger players. You need to make few adjustments on the tee. Most important is that you start hitting draw that is usually off the tee. Secondly you can try to change the pattern of your swing so that you may get more power along with better accuracy and be sure it does not hurt your back as most of the aged golfers do. By making these two changes you can be sure that you will be able to play a better game and compete with the young golfers for many years to come.
Most of the trainers agree that hitting a good draw from 15 to 20 yards of the tee is better than hitting a fade. You can try improving your skills. With an iron hitting a draw can be added more efficiently to your swing. It can always be counted as an additional club to your shot. You may also expect to gain an extra yardage with a draw when the ball lands, and this certainly is something that you may not get when you hit a fade.
There is a very simple reason behind gaining extra run. If you simply manage to fade or slice the ball the clubface would simply be open at the impact and this may add loaf to the ball. It may also tend to slide the ball across the clubface meaning you never did compress the ball at impact. But when you hit a draw the clubface is generally closed and you end up taking loaf off the ball helping to make runs. This certainly would compress the ball more at impact and it would add distance to your shot.
So you need to position back in all your stance and strongly grip the position. Then try starting with the club back on the inside allowing your clubface to open at the back of the swing. Now cupping the left wrist try walking through your swing. You need to position the ball perfectly for a good shot and try maintaining your stance. Your position, stance and swing are what work their magic to add distance to your shot. Always try to position your right foot towards the target while hitting the ball. Follow these tips and you certainly can improve your golf.
